Does that apply to all of Fallowfield?? Arrgh, i thought there was a free bus or something. Oh well.

yup, that would - walking from Fallowfield to the main uni campus would take approx 25-30 minutes.
The free bus runs from the north campus to the main campus:

The Oxford Road Link 147 bus offers free travel for University of Manchester staff and students between the Sackville Street and Oxford Road areas of the campus.

Oh, right.. Well, I'm resigned to the fact that I'll probably never have any money at all. That's 150 quid less on beer  ! Cheers for your help

your right
But the £150 helps alot, as these buses take you anywhere, and normally cost at least £1, and at nights, £2.
So, you can come back from a drunken night, and not pay cos you have your pass - it has its perks ^^

Is opal gardens (think it use to be called university place or something) a good place to stay?

You can also lose your pass on said drunken night.... The number of people I know who've managed it is ridiculous

Are the people at richmond park really as 'rah' as people say??
i would love an en suite but am thinking more towards Owens Park or Oak House for the partying :P

weston hall = lots of international students and rep for being very quiet
university place hall will be a new hall the year you start so I expect it will be very nice but know one knows haha.

Ok i've just gone through all of these and am still slightly confused..although it could just be my simple brain :s

Between Owens park and oak house is there any difference in terms of one being better for socialising/mixing than the other, or are they pretty similar

I've heard that Owen's Park, the tower is it? is louder than Oak House but both are good for socialising  Also Owens Park is catered and Oak House is self catered.

Have a look at Owens Park: http://www.accommodation.manchester.ac.uk/ouraccommodation/areaguide/fallowfield/owenspark/

and Oak house: http://www.accommodation.manchester.ac.uk/ouraccommodation/areaguide/fallowfield/oakhouse/

they are very similar though, so it seems!!

thanks
leaning slightly more towards Oak house for the self catering, as I'm abnormally fussy with food

Plus not sure if I'm too keen on the whole 'fire alarm going off at 4am' thing
In comparison to Oak House, how quiet are Sheavyn & Richmond? I'm not sure if i want to go for full-on loud party mode, or opt for a little quieter. However I definetly don't want to be stuck somewhere too quiet & non-sociable.
When applying to accommodation at Manchester, do they take into account things like age etc? Or do they place you quite randomly?
I'm currently very unsure where to go. I like going out a lot - so i'm quite drawn to the liveliness of Oak House or Owen's Park - but I also quite like the look of Hulme Hall.
Does anybody have any information at what it's like to live in Hulme Hall, or indeed any of these places? I'm worried about Hulme Hall perhaps being a bit too boring, and studious - as i really want a 'proper' uni experience.
Also i'm going to be 21 when i start - so will there be a mix of ages?
Sorry for all the questions etc, i just am bad at making decisions and want to try and ensure i make the correct one!

everyone in my flat is around the same age - between 18 and 20, I don't know if they place people based on age, really. I doubt it but they do try match people with similar interests (apparently) and you have a wee box to fill in with all your interests on the application form, so I suppose you could put a little note in there if you'd really rather live with other people in their 20s. Age isn't an issue, tbh.

Hulme Hall is definitely quieter than OP and OH, but from what I gather, it has more of a community atmosphere which can be quite sociable, I suppose. They also have a pretty good hall bar. And a theatre, if that strikes you.
cheers for the reply OhNO,
so what accommodation are you in? and would you recommend it?

I live in Oak House, and I'd recommend it. Depends on the type of person you are as to how much you enjoy it here, though. If you're quite introverted you might find it overwhelming.

Owens Park has the advantage.
In Oak House you're in a flat of 8 people in most cases. In Owens Park at the moment I'm in a block of 46 people. Big difference.
Hi =D
I’m wanting a self-catered accommodation and I can’t have en-suite because its expensive =( so this leaves me with:

Oak house
Bowden court
Chandos hall
Grosvenor place
Grosvenor st building
Ronson Hall
Whitworth park
Wright Robinson hall

I’d be doing Biomedical sciences and I’d like a social life but actually able to study and sleep when I need to lol So I’m not sure which place will be best which would you recommend???
What’s it like in the City campus? (seen as though all but one of my options is in it)

I’m going to the Open house on Sunday but I’d like to have more of an idea of which places would be best before I go =)
