Theres this essay question on one of my past papers, it reads:

Ecrivez une lettre a votre correspondant pour lui decrire les problemes des femmes dans la societe francaise. Faites une comparison si vous voulez, entre les problemes des femmes en Grande Bretagne et en France

Does the "si vous voulez" part mean if you want or do you have to make the comparison between the two countries?

I wrote the answer but i thort that u didnt have to do the comparing so i didnt and ma teachers marked me really low, saying that i needed to compare :confused:
