What is the best looking university or college?

Here's my submission; I don't study there, nor am i applying there, but the RCM is one of the best looking colleges I've ever seen.

Cambridge, no doubt. Either Downing, Emmanuel or Selwyn for prettiest college

Considering Kings college is deep within London, its elegant buildings give a huuuuuge contrast to the concrete jungle outside the campus :P

Admittedly that last one isn't strictly about architecture but it did start to descend heaving into a discussion about architecture.

There was another thread, a particularly large one. Then two more were created soon after and, when I was a mod, I remember merging them. It kept being bumped every few weeks so it really did run over a few months. Can't seem to find it now though, which is odd.

The universities most people mention are Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, UCL, Royal Holloway, Glasgow, Nottingham

Personally I'm a bit of a sucker for Birmingham's redbrick campus. Or Aberdeen's King's College. Newcastle's original redbrick quad is delightful, its more modern buildings look quite odd so near to it, but the neo-classical architecture of the city compensates. Glasgow is impressive, as are Cardiff's neo-classical buildings (many of them inherited from the city centre).

In truth though, all of our universities are blessed with some excellent examples of architecture and some real stinkers of buildings (often from the 1960s). But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Fitzwilliam at Cambridge gets regularly criticised but I'm coming around to it. I still think Durham's student union building is awful though and, away from the Bailey and castle, it's good to average. Ushaw College is stunning, and one most people don't think of (or aren't even aware of) but they're terminating all ties with the university soon, I think. It's actually a seminary and located outside the city

The royal college of music.
Most of the original scot universities are beautiful, as well as the obvious oxbridge.

I am a sucker for the original architecture at the redbricks though like Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds
