Hahaha, discussed it extensively with our english teacher in class today. Apparently it's a hot topic in the staffroom at my school!

It has been the main topic of conversation in the staffroom at my school too. Lol. Although, thankfully, everyone was criticising it, rather than gushing about how good it was.
I've read it and it really does feel like the fanfiction that it used to be. There is an awful lot of sex in it to and some of its not really on the normal side, also the story's awful and its badly written I honestly don't know how it got published. Anyway if you want to read it go ahead.

That's kind of the whole point of it lol. To be honest after all the hype I was slightly disappointed at how tame it was :/

That's true I suppose but the freakishness of the sex didn't really improve the book.
Who would want to read porn when you can fap easier watching it ffs

My mum bought it on her Kobo and she said she had to stop reading after about 30 pages because the leading lady was blushing every other sentence. I have no intention of reading it.

I want to read it, if only to see how bad it is. The words 'Twilight' and 'fanfiction' are enough to put anyone off, though :dontknow:

This made me laugh (it gets increasingly crappier though, so...):

A woman who was probably in her late 20s was engrossed in it on the tube this evening. I didn't question it.

I have met an author of a book which is to be blunt a sex autobiography. I only found out later that she was the author and to be honest, she seemed an ordinary person.
It's horrifically written.
Think Twilight. On Valium.
Please, I've read better smut than that pile of garbage.

Let me demonstrate with an example here:"He is gloriously naked. My inner goddess is doing a triple axel dismount off the uneven bars, and abruptly my mouth is dry."

errr what??? "my inner goddess"? Inner goddess?
With all the hype about it, there's bound to be a movie version out by 2015.
I think if I could get hold of a free (legal) copy I'd give it a go just to see what the hype is all about, but I've heard too many people say it's bad to even think about paying for a copy.
Plus, if I want smut I can get it free online.

Also, have you seen the parody twitter: 50 Sheds of Grey (@50shedsofgrey)? There's only three tweets but Mrs Stephen Fry retweeted them and I'll admit I chuckled a little bit.

If you get wet or hard over this you need to re-evaluate your sex life and where it is going.

I don't know.. the whole point of the book was the 'alternative bedroom arrangements' so there wouldn't be a book without that cos it would just be boring and pointless. To be honest I wouldn't say it was at all 'freakish'. It could have done with being a lot more messed up but I guess I'm harder to shock than most of it's readers.
I heard it described as "Mommy porn" and decided that I will never, EVER read this book.

I had heard about the hype a couple of months ago when I had read an article about it that it was a US bestseller and was banned by a few libraries in the US. And I remember thinking how bad could it be? I was revising at the time but saw that it was £3 on amazon so bought a copy and thought I would give it a go to see what all the fuss is about. After exams I heard that everyone was reding it! - women on public transport, friends, friends mothers... I hadn't met a single person who hadn't heard of the book or who didn't know someone who was reading it. It is widely regarded as 'mummy porn' so it's not aimed at a younger generation.

I am about half way through and this being the first erotic book I had ever read it intrigues me. It's very explicit and there are some parts which are very uncomfortable to read but the story behind it is interesting. the characters have a depth that is being explored away from the sex so there is more to the story than just sex. It's not my usual cup of tea but I like to read books that are popular so that I can have an opinion about it and be in the know of all the fuss around it.

universal pictures have just signed the rights for the movie. they are in the midst of casting for the lead roles. loads of big names are putting themsleves up for the leads and loads of big names are being approached. I can't wait for the film version. seeing the scenes played out will be very different to reading them on a page.
