yep same got an offer for cardiff with late january start date. Think it mentioned in the email that the cardiff centre/office is still being set-up which is why I assume start date is later than other locations.

Cardiff offer here too, looks like there's going to be a few of us! Yeah I think from looking over the email and remembering what they said at interview ( I had mine in Cardiff) that it's a new centre so I guess it's ready for the new year!

Maybe if I applied for cardiff... they will locate me and offer me a post more effectively.

What date are you guys starting your post?

Mine is on the 5th of January 2015 in London.

Does anybody know when they will be contacting our references and when we are likely to receive the offers?

Cardiff starts on 25th January. Haven't received any email asking for references but cant remember if we put it all down when we were applying for the tpdp. If we did then they're probs using them......
Did Audrey tell you to fill out the next stage? I'm unsure as to whether I should as I'm hoping they're able to change my location :-/

Hi Everyone,

I have also been offered an EO post in Cardiff with start date in January 2015. I was just wondering what the starting salary is? What qualification we will get at the end? After 4 years what are the chances of promotion to grade 7?

Thanks

K420... did you get an offer today ?
After reading some of these posts I think I should clear something up, the EO positions are not a grad scheme they are just normal jobs. There is training required for you to be able to do these jobs and you get AAT accredited type qualification but it all depends on which business stream you are allocated to as to what they are. Once you finish your two years you are a qualified EO level and then from then on promotion etc is the same as any other employee so it's just what ever is available. I would suggest the chance of becoming a grade 7 after 4 years in non as it's 3 grades above an EO. Hope this clears up some confusion.

No, I was offered the post last week. My score was 6 6 7. All my three choices were in London. Instead they offered me Cardiff, I find it a bit strange.

Thanks for clarifying ciobas and xxxxxhxxx.
hi. does anybody know if there is any requirement to stay on the EO position for a minimum period of time? or do we have any restrictions for going into the private sector after having worked at HMRC?
Hey! I think we've been told this...but I think I've questioned it so much now, I don't actually know the right answer!

What is the travel expenses situation on the TPDP? If we have to travel to a different office for our tutorial, can we claim back expenses for that journey?

Thanks!

You might want to check on that prior to starting work as you most likely will not be able to get your contract until you start. Most EO contracts in the past years stated that you could not apply for another post at officer level for two years. If this is the case for you, it means that you could apply for a promotion but not a lateral move. This can be tricky if you find that you do not like the role and are seeing lots of other EO posts advertised within HMRC and/or the wider civil service.

With respect to moving to the private sector. You will be subject to some procedures if you leave to go to the private sector. However this is more the case if you move to a role in which you may be using your civil service gained knowledge in (i.e if you became a corporation tax specialist trained by HMRC and then moved to Deloitte for example). It really depends on what you do as a civil servant, how much protected information you become privy to and then where you go to in the private sector.

Yes you will claim back expenses. You will book your travel through an internal travel portal and so you will not pay out of your own pocket for tutorial travel.
