Still haven't heard back from Goldsmiths :frown: With the amount of acceptions already on this thread I'm taking that to mean I've been rejected...
I still havent heard back from newcastle uni for fine art. I had my interview 3 months ago and i know people who had their rejections and offers. I even emailed them and i didnt get a response for that as well. Has anyone else not heard back from newcastle or does anyone know if this is good or bad?

I'm sure its fine. I think they're just struggling with the number of applicants this year which means they are taking a while to get back to people. I know a few people who are still waiting to find out if they have an interview or not.
Are they waiting for an interview to Newcastle?

I've accepted then as my insurance if that helps haha
My god, I can't decide which one to pick! Can anyone offer any info on CSM or Goldsmith's, they both look great, leaning towards Goldsmiths as you get your own studio space straight away, just can't make up my mind :frown:

I'd advise Goldsmiths. It has the better rep of the two, a more impressive list of alumni, from what I've heard studio spaces are better, you don't have to specialise in one particular discipline which means that there is more freedom, accommodation is so much cheaper. In my opinion fine art goldsmiths just has the edge on CSM in pretty much everything other than location.

Thank you thank you thank you, I was leaning towards Goldsmiths to be honest! Also heard there is a sound studio to work in which is appealing, thanks!

Go to Goldsmiths!!! I unfortunately didn't get an offer but I was on the shortlist and it would kill me to know that someone who was offered a place didn't accept it, because I honestly would've done pretty much anything to go to Goldsmiths.

If you are on the shortlist does that mean that you may get a place if one becomes available?

No don't think so. It just means I was considered highly. There are three stages to the admissions process for Goldsmiths; they reject a group of people outright (these would've been the first people to hear back), then they draw up a shortlist of possible candidates. They then accept X number of people from that shortlist and let them know they have a place. Then they notify the rest of the people that they haven't got a place (the last group of people to hear back).

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get a place, it is a super competitive process. Where are you going to go instead?

CSM
Sorry to hear about Goldsmiths but you'll still do great at CSM I'm sure! Could I just ask what was it that really pushed you towards Goldsmiths personally speaking? Thanks!!

Well, personally I just loved it as an institution! The course is very conceptually driven and that is what my work is all about. I really liked the students I had contact with and the studio spaces are lovely with fantastic views! You are given your own studio space from day one which is another great plus.

Another factor was that my favourite artist went there to do her MA so that also attracted me to it.

I'm not that upset really, I can always apply again for my MA if I decide to do one.
