Yeah, that's why I hate the idea of halls. If you're in halls you'll be surrounded by people getting drunk and going to clubs. And usually, if you don't go with your flat mates you end up as an outcast cause that's what everyone else is doing.

Yeah like don't get me wrong it's fun to go out now and again but not all the time :L they can do what they want, me and this other lad didn't always Join them though, when I did I had fun but I couldn't muster up the enthusiasm for it sometimes, it's different when your one of the older ones in a gap year and they have just turned 18 before starting, at least it was for me
Hate clubbing. I just do not get the appeal. Genuinely would like someone to explain it to me.

From my experience you just go out in clothes and shoes that you wouldn't usually wear aka uncomfortable and can't take a bag so have to hide your phone/money/keys in uncomfortable places. Then you go out in the dark without a coat and usually it's freezing.

Then you stand there with music so loud that you can't hear anyone speak and have to shout to even get a word across. Usually I don't like getting drunk because I need to get myself home so I'm pretty sober surrounded by people who are wasted.

Then you go home so tired and usually eat something disgusting just because it's quick. And wake up in the morning with a sore throat from shouting and maybe a headache if you had one too many....plus a lack of money.

Maybe I'm just getting old but I don't get what's fun about that.

I'd rather meet up with some friends in the middle of the day with my handbag to carry my things, have coffee and lunch, talk to each other and not have to shout, relax, drive home. No expensive taxis and drinks I don't need.

The main appeal is that club music sounds great when you're on certain types of drug and you just want to dance (badly) and shuffle around and allow the music to permeate your brain.

Other than that, meh.

So basically, there is literally no point unless you're a drug taker and since I'm not....

But yeah, my idea of judging whether something is enjoyable or not is...would I do it in daylight whilst sober? Anything worth doing should be fun under those conditions - otherwise, you're basically using a lack of lightning plus alcohol to dull your senses/memory of it. I've walked past clubs during the day when the staff are brushing the vomit off the pavement and seen them stacking bar stools on the bar etc and I look in and see the dark interior, rubbish decor, cleaning fluids, and retro lights and all that springs to mind is ''tacky/dirty''.

But I guess I'm not 18 anymore and obviously it still holds some appeal to a lot of people. Clubbing past 25 just feels pointless and actually kinda tragic.
yup, im more of a chatty person than a dancer
and i really dislike sweaty strangers (rock concerts dont count tho)

Yeah, I just said F it and rented a flat privately. Similar price as the halls and I don't have to deal with people going out. Sure it's not that social but when the other choice is like that? I'll take living alone any day

Hah I'm doing that for my final two years when I go back and I can't wait. I'm not an antisocial person at all, but just as you said, it's not like there's a huge deal of choice.

Clubbing is just offputting. There are certains groups of people who are found in clubs, and its not usualy those who you would want to be friends with.

This is literally the clubbing culture, so no thanks.:sick::sick:

I seriously want to use a louboutin to stab the brown headed chic

As a student DJ, I often play music for my university club nights. The main college union building has a nightclub and a bar, and I have played at both.
In the club, I find I can express myself with my talent for mixing music better, as it's an environment that is more suited to my musical taste, however, if I'm not currently the DJ, I don't get to express myself in quite the same way. I'm not a dancer, and before I got into DJing, I didn't really go to clubs.
In the bar, you do, of course, have to play lighter music, that people can hear themselves over. I'm more than OK with that, but I prefer to DJ in the club. When I'm not the DJ, I'm concentrating on conversation rather than music, so if I'm not the DJ, I'd prefer the bar. With that said, some of my friends who also DJ play too loud for me to hear the people I'm talking to, in which case, wherever the music is better, or wherever I can hear my friends.

I wouldn't mind being a DJ in a club.
But I'd hate to be part of the staff behind a bar or security. I just hate being sober around drunk people.

I always find clubbing awfully forced if I'm not smashed. I much prefer to sit in a bar with friends and have one or two drinks.
There are quite a lot of factors which make me dislike clubbing. It's cramped and sweaty, full of strangers, it's too loud so I can't talk to anyone, a lot of guys are there for the sore intention of pulling, same music, same songs, clothes end up full of alcohol and I always need a shower coming back, coming back at 4AM and not getting a good night sleep, I always end up losing the people I go with, crazy people in the bus stops or at least intoxicated, too many dickeads there, by that I mean people have no inhibitions, people would disrespect others in which they would not normally do outside that location.
I mean I don't know how some people go all the time, it's quite bad for health to frequently binge drink too. I go when it's someone's birthday or something like once every 3 months.

I'd also much rather be in a relationship than pull a random stranger. Like what future does that hold?

EDIT: I should have mentioned the toilets are disgusting and I hate standing throught the whole night.

I dont drink so obviously this influence my decision on this topic. I 100% prefer quiet drinks in a bar/pub or going to a cafe with friends over clubbing, this is because being sober makes the drunk behavior which goes on in clubs harder to tolerate, wheras in a bar I find the drunk people more tolerable.
I used to enjoy clubs, but that was a year where I was perpetually drunk. I just don't like those places anymore, as you said to me it feels forced, cramped and makes me very anxious. And I hate not being able to hear or understand anything go on.

I'd much prefer a bar, pub, restaurant (not fancy) or a house party any day.

I went to a club a few weeks ago however, I found most of our time (as with almost every other time I have been) was mostly spent looking for people we had lost and escorting drunken friends out of stupid situations rather than having any actual fun. Not my cup of tea.

Yup, pretty much. Clubbing whilst sober is the most insufferable experience you can imagine, I've done it during a period where I gave up drugs and alcohol and I was bored to tears the entire night. Too loud to talk to anyone, hated the music, constantly too hot, getting annoyed with people bumping into me ... it's awful.
To sum up my previous post: Any place where you need to get drunk to enjoy it is not worth going to in the 1st place.

I'm 19 and I hate clubbing. Most of the things I dislike about it have already been said. I only had to go to one to realise it wasn't my thing at all. I lost my flatmate and must have spent a good hour looking for him. Someone was also trying to talk to me at one point when I was sat down. I tried to shout as loud as possible but she couldn't hear me. Eventually she just walked away. I also had no idea it would go on until 4am. After a few hours of being there my feet hurt so much and I just wanted to go home.

Yes, I hate clubbing
I enjoy clubbing as long as the music isn't RnB/Urban/Hiphop- that bores me to tears, but any other music puts me on a high. If I want to talk to people though I go to a restaurant or pub depending on the time of day.

Well, you gotta be sober when you DJ, otherwise the music is messed up. But at least you're not interacting with the drunks.
But if you're one of the DJs, you get the right to a free drink that night. Which I never really use!

P.S. If you're interested in DJing, PM me, and I'll give you some info.

I mean in bars, you do get guys trying to chat up women, however its very rare that you get them instantly trying to grind on women, which is very common in clubs.

Yeah I prefer sitting at a café from all the options. I'm Muslims so that influences my choice because clubbing is Haram but I would rather sit at a café with friends and chill. I see no point of clubbing even if I was not a Muslim..it's just dancing and drinking.

To be honest, I don't think any religion promotes the whole lifestyle.
I have strict Muslim and Christian friends, and I'd say they'd be the last ones I'd suspect to go.

Hm yeah...but you know...Islam strictly says it's 'Haram'...
