Because dogs taste like crap? And are more useful than pigs?

Have you tried dog?

It doesn't matter that they're more useful. We could easily have the uses of dogs and eat them too.
Pigs are not fluffy and they don't go woof.
i have eaten horsemeat... it's kinda chewy ?
COWS!!!!

Look mate, are you a complete loser?
Why would you make a thread about something like this? Only asians eat dogs, idk why. But eating dogs is just nasty, dogs are these playful creatures who can be trained to help blind people. But pigs are just fat and ugly pink things that as just livestock. Dogs also taste nasty because look at their body shape ffs, barely any good meat on that, pigs, cows, chicken, sheep, they're just yummy.

Because it's cruel to eat dogs

Because bacon
Well, neither is ok, but I suppose given the current state of things, pigs are more economical to farm and consume than dogs.

For now...

Wild pigs are intelligent, playful, and don't have as much fat on them as the heavily bred varieties you eat. I'd be very surprised if they couldn't be trained to lead the blind, though I doubt anyone's tried. As for ugly, I'm sure you won't contest that there are plenty of ugly dogs.

As for taste, that's somewhat beside the point. Many people dislike the taste of brussels sprouts, but they don't regard eating brussels sprouts as morally abhorrent.

I am not prepared to accept "it's just nasty" as a proper argument.

That's true, actually - since pigs are basically herbivores, or at least will eat just about anything you give them, and dogs are more selectively carnivores, farming pigs will always be more economical.

"I just want to say, have you ever seen a pig protecting its master? Have you ever seen guide-ducks or police chickens?" one asks. "When you come home, will your fish come and greet you at the door? Dogs are different."

There is no objective reason.
most humans dont have the same emotional attachment to pigs as they do to dogs, there isn't really any logic behind the distinction.

I'd say that it's probably that pigs were bred specifically for that purpose for a long time making it more of a 'norm' than eating dogs. Plus dogs are seen by society as household pets so it seems more 'wrong' to eat dogs as that's just 'not something we do', just like a lot of people don't eat things like cats, hamsters, or any of those kinds of pets. People in general are probably more emotionally attached to pet-type animals than farm animals due to the way we're socialised to see them.
