Why is eating pig okay, but not eating dog?

It doesn't matter that they're more useful. We could easily have the uses of dogs and eat them too.

Why would you make a thread about something like this? Only asians eat dogs, idk why. But eating dogs is just nasty, dogs are these playful creatures who can be trained to help blind people. But pigs are just fat and ugly pink things that as just livestock. Dogs also taste nasty because look at their body shape ffs, barely any good meat on that, pigs, cows, chicken, sheep, they're just yummy.

Well, neither is ok, but I suppose given the current state of things, pigs are more economical to farm and consume than dogs.

Wild pigs are intelligent, playful, and don't have as much fat on them as the heavily bred varieties you eat. I'd be very surprised if they couldn't be trained to lead the blind, though I doubt anyone's tried. As for ugly, I'm sure you won't contest that there are plenty of ugly dogs.

As for taste, that's somewhat beside the point. Many people dislike the taste of brussels sprouts, but they don't regard eating brussels sprouts as morally abhorrent.

I am not prepared to accept "it's just nasty" as a proper argument.
