Getting back in touch
If you betrayed someone, what would be a humane way of getting back in touch after 2 years?
You will have to apologise a lot, be sincere to make them believe you and not question your actions.
Message him/her and ask if you can talk to them on the phone etc to explain everything. Expect them to say no, you have to be persistent because they're most likely holding a grudge and don't want to forgive you. Although, it all depends on what you did though. Be totally honest with them.

How sure are you the person would be amenable to you getting in touch? How did you two leave things? If they are generally a forgiving person, you might get away with making contact successfully, but perhaps it would be kinder to let them move on.
