Bans never last anyway, I doubt it'll even come close to being as graphic as August Underground's Mordum.

Edit; the trailer looks fairly disappointing, what have the BBFC become.

I watch them to gauge how bad they are, 3 men 1 hammer and Hatchet vs Genitals are the worst I've come across so far.

I don't think that one is on the internet, not sure. The one I've seen is the one which has been around for a while, where they beat a guy half to death with a hammer then use a screw driver for some awful things. Have a nice day :ahee:

It said that giving the film a rating would involve a ''risk of harm'' to those viewing it.

A risk of harm? What? Maybe I don't understand what they're saying but there's a risk of harm when you use a knife to cut some food, if you can't trust yourself not to stab yourself then you don't use it. The same idea applies here, if you really think disturbing scenes may cause you some sort of psychological problem then you don't watch them, though I think it's kind of stupid how anyone can be disturbed or harmed by watching something whilst knowing it is acting and fake.
But oh well, the government along with the BBFC knows what's best for me.

i can watch horror and gore movies fine but i cant watch films with rape in it, i just think its so repulsive and unnecessary it makes me feel physically sick. i watched wolf creek the other night and even when hes just taunting the girl (dont actually see any rape, he gets distracted) i felt really sick, its just horrific.

Unless you're talking about the Russian Hammer video, which I've never seen, I don't think there's any real videos worse than the descriptions of scenes in Grotesque.

Soon as I read it was banned I watched the trailer, looks pretty graphic like Saw amplified. Dunno it will probabaly give it more notoriety and people will stream it, might even become like a dark cult classic.

I think there are worse sounding scenes in fake films. Just knowing its real puts me off and makes me feel sick though, I wouldn't watch it - I think it's just disrespectful to the victim. :no:

I only saw some youtube reactions of it - that was enough for me, thanks. :afraid:

I noticed this story last night but waited until today to post it here purely because I wanted to see if my suspicions were true. Since it was announced the the BBFC was banning the film the number number of people torrenting this video has almost doubled over night. And other film forums have gone berserk with chatter, everyone wanting to know why it's so bad. So effectively the notoriety is free advertising for the producer and now its going to get more potential watchers :s-smilie:

Not really, because people will download it for free. I suspect they would've gotten more revenue had it been allowed to go on sale.

I'm not surprised really; I would've refused to give it a rating as well. Like someone else said, it's UK law that films without a rating cannot be shown, so... yeah.

The BBFC had to refuse it anyway; it's in their guidelines that films with violence are ok as long as they are relevant to the story. But in this case, Grotesque is violent for the sake of being violent.

I feel sorry for the people who had to watch it to decide on it's rating (or lack of in this case).

The Video by the same name i watched had 3 Russians Hitting a man over the heads with a hammer then gouging his eyes out with a Screwdriver.

It's a pretty niche film with a very low budget for advertising. This ban allows the producer to say in other countries this film is so gory and frightening they ban it in the UK leading to a rise in dvd sales in other countries.

Who's to say British people wont buy it regardless now? There are plenty of websites offering specialist import services for hard to get or censored films.

I think the director knew when he made this film it wasn't going to be a massive blockbuster hit raking him in millions, it was going to be a niche release to a very small market. The ban will make him money through other things like interviews and merchandising now.
