From here: http://store.aqa.org.uk/over/stat_pdf/AQA-GCSE-GDE-BOUND-JUNE09.PDF

the grade boundary was 144 out of 150.

so either you lost 6+ marks in the controlled test/exam or something else went wrong.

btw, you're quite lucky as AQA is 96% - whereas Edexcel is 97%.

Hmm. I'm a little in doubt now. My Art teacher told me today that no one got an A* because you had to get 100% to get an A*. That seems rather dodgy to me, but now you're telling me different, so I have no idea =(

Thanks for your post =)

Oh And Congrats On Your GCSE Results Guys
*theKid*
I was told that I had lost 1 mark overall in art (on cwk) and I still just got an A. Has this happened to anyone else?

Well done to all =)

our teacher told us it was around 98% to get an a* - i think - this was like 3 years ago - stupid isn't it - lol

I can't still believe I got an A* in art. If the 96% grade boundary is true then it's insane...

It's pretty stupid, yeah, lol
whats really funny is my school has had like 10 years without getting a B at GCSE.

Not sure if there were any this year, my school ussually get like 75% A*'s and the others A's. Thing is, I reckon its purely down to our teacher bullying the examiner lol. Nothing to do with us.

Mauahahaha I got 100% somehow  I didn't know the boundaries were so high though :frown:

False. You do not have to get 100% for an A*, literally just a few marks under it.

Your teacher is wrong, as what I've shown you is information direct from the examination board.

Plus, as we know, GCSE Art boundaries are really ridiculous - however I firmly doubt 99% would be an A. That would be wrong.

I think you need to enquire about this - otherwise you might have been unfairly marked.

Good luck and thanks.

Good. Hope it goes well for you.

And you're welcome. :hat2:
Remember also that the grade boundaries will change slightly from year to year. This is to reflect the quality of work produced by other students and bring it all in to line with national standards

Ironically that's what I thought - but I looked at every Examiner Report for GCSE Art - Edexcel, from the past 5-6 years and it was 97/100 every time.

I was shocked.

If I can find them, I'll show it to you to see how ridiculous it is. :yep:
Yeah for edexcel it is 97 percent! Crazy or whatttt....Here's the link xD

Not sure about AQA though, you might want to check their website?

Although I know its good, I'm really gutted with my A because I spent 90 percent (no joke) of my revision time doing Art Coursework, and thats the one subject i got A in ironically!
I did everything my teacher asked for, she said it was all good enough for top marks...I hate the fact it has to be internally marked because that makes appealing harder!

Have u thought of appealing ^_^? It does cost though and its harder for coursework stuff thats marked by your teachers, like Art is.
OK, apparently the 2004 and 2005 examiner's reports are gone and I can't seem to find the 2009 one so here are the marks for '06, '07 and '08:

2006: 97/100
2007: 97/100
2008: 97/100

In fact, the grade boundaries are literally the same for A*, A, B etc

Here are the links in ascending order (2006 to 2008):

:yep: It's true. Sad reality is that it's fixed - never goes up or down.

All I know for AQA it's 96% for 2009. :yep:

Tbh, your situation was quite sad as you sound like an A* student for Art - it so happens the boundaries are so high - and for what reason? :woo:
Edexcel's boundary was 97% seven years ago when I sat my GCSEs. I had 96%. :frown:
