Most people's gap year will be unrelated to their degree. Only really language students or students who'll visit historical places (ie. for Religious studies or history) could have a related gap year. =D
Absolutely not. Say that you want to take a year out to mature. That's clever. That's what I'm doing. Also, you want to travel and you're going to accomplish that - explain how you've saved for it or something (they might like this being accounty people haha). You're tackling a year abroad - I think you can tackle uni. Also shows you have dreams that you're willing to work towards, surely!?
