I don't see why you couldn't, and you should pick subjects you're really enthusiastic about for HL and perhaps ones you're instinctively good at for SL.

your predicted gcse's are crap. aim for some A*s and then we can talk

ENGLISH LANG - A
ENGL LIT - A
SCIENCE -A
ADDITIONAL SCIENCE - A
MATHS - B --< highly doubt this probably get a C
HISTORY -B
GEOGRAPHY -B
R.E-B
PHILOSOPHY OF RELIGION (DOIN HALF AN AS ATM) - C
FOOD TECH - B

AND IF I COULD.. which subjects would you suggest i take and also which ones at higher / standard

It all really depends what you subject you LOVE and also what you want to BE when you grow up. Here is a sort of a layout of what you could do at IB according to ur predicted grades:

HL English
HL Chemistry (or physics)
HL Biology (or physics)

SL History/Geography
SL Language <-- french, spanish, chinese whatever!
SL Math Studies

But I could be entirely wrong here! Just chose subjects you like and you can do well in  That's what is most important.

id maybe change SL history/geography for HL english, coz HL english is tough, more than history and definately more than geography.

OP, if you like geography, take it. it is supposed to be a good subject to get good score in. also, dont do physics. given your weakness in maths, HL physics will be too hard (not that it uses as much maths as at uni, but it is a significant amount and i doubt anyone not comfortable with maths can do well in it).

if those are ur grades, u need to think about whether or not u could cope with the IB -exended essays, much more depth and more subjects will demand more time and effort, so if ur doing GCSEs and only predicted mainly Bs and a few As, u may well b better off doing a levels because your bound to better in them. but then again, it is entirely up to you,

it also depends about whether or not your sure about what u want to go in2....the IB is more for people who are all-rounders and dont know what to specialise in yet and want to explore with different subjects, whereas a levels are more specific -with subjects like further maths for example.
Meh, I know people who got mostly Cs at GCSE with 1 or 2 Bs and they are coping fine.

well then they're probably satisfied with lower grades then, especially if they got mostly Cs -what levels are these people expecting? I've heard of people who get most A*s in science/maths/humanities, and As in subjects they are weaker -like languages, and so even tho they get level 7/6s in most subjects, the get lower grades at their weaker subject so end up with lower overall point scores, so theyd get the equivalent of ABB whereas if they took A levels theyd b looking at AAA (or better)

Actually thats not true. People who do bad in gcse's are mainly those who are lazy and don't study. Then they realize that they are given a new chance in IB and they work hard for it. There was a girl in our year that got mostly C's and a few D's but still managed to pass her GCSEs and doing IB now. She got 45 marks...got into Harvard. She was on the newspaper, she was amazing  I think that IB is not HARD as in the contents is hard. It's hard in the fact that you have to do a LOT of work <-- thats hard. It's a really tough course.

Clearly this guy has potential in english and should not waste it. The difference between HL and SL is four more texts and one world lit essay. PLUS you get more time in the exam than the SL. My teacher said there is very little difference...its just more work.

well i did SL but i was told by my friends that HL is very vey tough and the teachers said so too. apparently you need better quality essays for the same grade.

she must've worked REALLY REALLY hard....

really? that sounds amazing, she must've worked REALLY REALLY hard....you can't just get C's and D's at GCSE and then expect to get really good IB grades in my opinion

Why not? I know lots of people that just decided 'I'm going to get through this' and got fine scores (36+). I also know people who are v. clever, but did not get excellent scores (low 30s). It's all about the amount of work and ingenuity you put in when you're in the IB.

Ingenuity - The ability to solve difficult problems, often in original and creative ways (Wiktionary)

Can't "put in" ingenuity

oops. I wrote that at 6 am, haha.
v. v. tired!

i suppose so, seeing how GCSEs are more about how well you've been taught as opposed to natural "ingenuity"

For English A1 HL you'll need ingenuity and interesting approaches to literature, because you can only miss 1 mark for each Oral and each WL (no joke) for a 7. You can then lose 4/5 marks on P1/P2 each. The difference between a 6 and a 7 is for many things a single word, e.g. relevant vs. 'highly' relevant. So, you need to write v. well (especially since so few people make the 7, around 4-7%).
Yes you could do the IB with those grades, you need to be organised and be prepared to work very hard as well. I got similar grades to what you are predicted, and I would suggest you do:
HL English(very hard)
HL Science
HL Geography
SL: Another science
SL: Maths Studies
SL: Ab initio language as you have no language GCSE
