Hey do any of you guys know how to do this?

root 63 = root9 x root 7 = 3root7
root 28 = root 4 x root 7 = 2root7
3root7 + 2root7 - root7 = ???

Yes, however, think how happy you'll be if you check Arsey's solutions and you've not made a single mistake (that you can remember)?

What a dilemma. :colone:

awhh you're making me feel nervous!

would you have any tips for d1?

use sharp, pointy pencils so you can write fluently (not blunt ones). The pencil is because you can rub mistakes out, fairly obvious. And take a sharpener with you so you can sharpen your pencil at the end of every 4 questions, so you can keep drawing/writing fast with a good feel

that's what I'm gonna do anyway... hopefully I can get a good pass in this module

hate drawing activity networks from precedence tables, can never get it right first time round - pencil is invaluable there

3 months ago i used to think im gonna fail D1 :frown: , now im pretty much ready for anything in D1  , no matter how hard i try i cant finish a paper in less than an hour, which is quite good since it means i dont have to sit around for half an hour + doing nothing like in c2 m1 or s1

Stuck on a S1 Probability question, helppp please!

(what do you draw for this?... venn diagram, tree, grid...so confused :/)

Paul and Gill decide to play a board game.
The probability Paul wins is 0.25
The probability that Gill wins is 0.3. They decide to play 3 games. Given that the results of successive games is independent, find the probability that...

a. Paul wins 3 games in a row
b. All games are drawn
c. Gill wins 2 games and Paul 1 game
d.Each player wins just one game each

If the method could be stated for each, i'd really appreciate it

Thank youuu!

Hi, I know you don't do S2 solutions but could you please post the S2 grade boundaries?

Thanks!

That's expected in D1, the questions generally take longer!
Can someone please explain how to do this normal distribution question for me please:

The continuous random variable Y is normally distributed with mean 100 and variance 256.

Find k such that P(100 - k < Y < 100 + k) = 0.516.

k u know the equation y=mx + c....well in statistics they kinda just changed it around to y=c + mx....
umm so normally they will say in a qs express the regression line like this p=a + bt.....
so to find 'b' u need to do Spt/Stt cas the normal equation for finding 'b' is Sxy/Sxx...so if u look at the equation of y= c + mx u normally devide Sxy but the 'x' Sxx not Syy.....
so if the equation was written t= a + bp then it would be Spt/Spp....as its the 'p' is the 'x' value...

sorry for waffling but hope it makes sense kinda hard to explain....

Thank you so much !!!!

What degree of accuracy do answers need to be to??? I generally just write everything that appears on my calculator, though obviously if the question states to 2dp thats what I do.

Also, any summary notes for normal distribution - the one area I'm struggling with.

I'm also taking this as a private candidate

i can draw a venn diagram for this problem but i cant put the right figure at the right place as MS reads.

Q. Three companies operate a bus service along a busy main road. Amber buses run 50% of the service and 2% of their buses are more than 5 minutes late. Blunder buses run 30% of the service and 10% of their buses are more than 5 minutes late. Clipper buses run the remainder of the service and only 1% of their buses run more than 5 minutes late. Jean is waiting for a bus on the main road.

Let A, B and C denote the events that Jean catches an Amber bus, a Blunder bus and a Clipper bus respectively. Let L
denote the event that Jean catches a bus that is more than 5 minutes late.

(d) Draw a Venn diagram to represent the events A, B, C and L. Calculate the probabilities associated with each region and write them in the appropriate places on the Venn diagram.
