Ok, this SOC chat thread seems to have died. Only 4 posts this year :frown:

Where are you guys?

Spoiler

I am still here! I have 3 tattoos now, with plans to get the one I had pictured in this thread coloured in.
Original post by cpdavis
Considering getting another tattoo, however I don't know what to get and where :dontknow:

What do you have so far and where? I admit, I only read the thread sporadically before posting

Don't worry, only saw this  at the moment I have a geometric moon on my right bicep which k still love (had for a year and a half now) thinking of getting something on my upper back and was maybe thinking something maths related and not too big
If I'm getting something as simple as this on my wrist:

Spoiler

Would it be fine to just go to some of the local tattoo places near me?

Also I need help on what font to have the words: Memento Vivere on either of my arms. Do people normally just go through a font website and find one they like?

Maths tattoo would be brilliant, especially if it was in your own handwriting

although something combing Math and Science could be amazing...

Or an equation...

Then there's a blog for Maths and Science tattoos...

Nice pic  Yeah, a local place would be fine. Just google and check online reviews of any tattoo studio you go to ad don't be afraid to pop in just to check it out, make sure it's clean, staff are friendly, etc.

There are so many fonts in the world to choose from, here's a large selection

I love this, but I haven't been able to find out what font it is.

An artist will be able to create something from what you like though.

This is a good feed for fonts

Does anyone know of any studios that are particularly good at big cat (i.e. tigers, lions etc) tattoos in the south east or london area. I've found one that looks really promising (New wave tattoos in london), but I was just wondering if there were any others.

I want an in colour, Snow Leopard climbing down my left arm. Kind of like this:

snow-leopard.jpg

I was also curious about the colouring, as they're predominantly as you can see white and grey, I was wondering how well that would work in colour on skin.
Me personally, I love this font as the N and the R look like an ECG(heart) monitor.

I would love to get two words in that heart-rate type font on the sides of my thumbs, on the outside as I ride horses and when I look down, I can see my thumbs as you hold the reins somewhat like this. I had a bad riding accident in 2008 when I nearly died, so I would have two words, one on each thumb of 'Just Breathe' so whenever I feel nervous riding I can look down and just breathe.

This guy is in Bristol. Gives you an idea of what white and grey would look like

Welcome! Post if you book to get it done, would love to hear how your tattoo progresses.
I just emailed this artist for my idea for my henna tattoo. Need to see if he's in the area as he travels all over, but hopefully he will be! His detail work is amazing.

I have three small ones, one black and white, two small colour ones. I would like to get more but not sure on the design as yet.

I am still here! Just no new tattoos to speak of.

Big back piece is going to be this, with some changes....rather than side on, sort of turning, legs in different positions and the head will be taken from a picture of my horse who passed away.

This would look beautiful as a back piece :sogood: I bet you can't wait to get started on that. The idea you have for something on your leg/hip sounds lovely too :h: Can't wait to see it!

I would love a small(ish) something on my thigh. No idea what, but I think it's a nice place. Also my inner upper arm. My local tattooist specialises in Mehndi designs and they are so pretty... I might consider something from her.

Ooh, I quite like the idea of getting an equation. Einstein's GR equation looks so pretty  I might start the course and see if I still feel the same way about it

Or I'm thinking something a bit more bold due to the area I'm hoping for it to go to. Someone suggested getting a limit, but cba

Thanks  Dmitriy Samohi has around an 18 month waiting list right now. I'm thinking it will be worth the wait rather than getting it done elsewhere. I may cave before then though.

I did get a quote from Walter, who I linked to above and it was $1,200 for a full back piece which I didn't think was bad given his work and the size of it. I imagine Dmitriy will be hella expensive.

I thought Dmitry only booked three months at a time? Does he make you wait before he'll commit to a date then? I'd love to get work from him, but a return flight to Ukraine, plus the cost of the piece is prohibitive at the moment.

At the moment my favourite artists are David Corden, who I am lucky enough to have work from, Sneaky Mitch, Little Miss Becca, Joe Frost, Crispy Lennox, who I also have work from, and Oddboy.

Am looking to be inked again probably in the Autumn/Winter  Need one of my all black tatt's re-done, so will look to get a new one at the same time. I know the theme I want, but still need to put some thought into what exactly...
