I'm a second year in Stirling, just to let you know that your offers will come in incredibly late, no matter if they are unconditional or not (I'm unsure about rejections), as for some reason they like to leave it till the last minute. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing to say here (in one way reassuring that they aren't just deliberating over you for months on end but it still adds to the overall suspense of UCAS )

Not entirely correct. I got an unconditional offer before the deadline in January last year, but also didn't get my second unconditional until April. I think it depends on both on how popular the course is (the Education course for me took the longest since a lot of people apply for it) and also how good your application is, how soon you'll hear back. A lot of decisions were made later last year because there were far more applicants than usual, but there were still several offers that were made in January/February.

Well, assuming that there will be even more applicants this year, surely the dates will be getting pushed further back? And i'm not sure about the point of how good the application is, do you mean personal statement wise?

Hello,
Sorry to barge in here but I was wondering, I have applied to Stirling to the Primary Education course... when do you think I can expect to hear about an interview or an offer? And do they ever give offers without interviews?

I have no idea how many applicants there are now compared to last year so it might be different, but I think if they're certain about your application you hear back pretty quick. They were struggling to get back to everyone within the deadline last year, so maybe they'll be able to cope better with a similar number of applications this year?
Yeah, I was referring to the personal statement, since Stirling seems to focus on it when making their decisions. So if an applicant has a strong personal statement and good grades, they might give them a reply sooner. Again, depends on the course.

Yeah, it may have been a bit of a misjudgement on my part, I just remember a lot of people last year moaning about the late deadlines and the apologies Stirling issued. It could have been due to the course I was applying to also as I'm pretty sure there's only about 20 of us or something :\

No worries! I was in the same position last year, so I'm happy to help with any questions!
For Primary Education you'll definitely have to go to an interview before getting an offer, regardless of how good your application is - only Secondary applicants don't get one. Think they were asking people to interview at the end of February/March time, although I'm not completely certain since I didn't get one. I heard back about Education in early April, so it should be around them. However, I know someone who had to go to a Primary Education interview and got an offer a few days later (it's normally a couple of weeks), just depends how well you do at the interview and how good your application is.

Thank you! Sounds like I'm going to be waiting a while for any sort of offer!! I've only applied to two courses, Stirling BA in Primary Education with a Specialism in Modern Languages and Aberdeen MA Joint Honours Education & Hispanic Studies. Sure it will be worth the wait (if I get an offer!) but I'm very impatient! What course are you doing? Do you like Stirling?

Yeah, there was a lot of complaints on how slow Stirling was last year, it was pretty bad. That would make sense actually, since general subjects (like History, English, Maths) have a lot more students than the specialised subjects like teaching, where there is normally about 20 students per teaching subject - so the decisions take longer. Love the fact I realised this after I've applied, would've been so much easier to wait for the offer last year

The wait is the most annoying part, but hopefully it'll be worth it! Good luck!
I'm studying History, Politics and Education (Secondary), just a first year at the moment but I'm enjoying it. I love it in Stirling, it's very friendly and the campus is beautiful (if you like nature you'll love it here! ). I live in halls at the moment, which is great since they're about 5-10 mins from all the main buildings.

Out of interest, what course are you studying?
I'm doing the PPE course . I noticed you're doing the exact same course as one of my flatmates but he's in a different year

Ah, don't think I know of anyone actually doing that course (although one girl I know is doing Politics and Economics, so maybe ). How are you finding Politics in second year? Yeah, it's pretty popular I think - originally applied to do English instead of Politics but I wanted my second subject to be Modern Studies, so swapped. Thinking of maybe dropping Politics once I've got the necessary credits later on, but I'll see how it goes
