What are roughly the top 4 colleges for Law in Oxford?

Can't give you a definative top 4 - just know that traditionally Worcester is fairly widely regarded as the best, although their law tutor retired a couple of years ago so this may change in the near future. Don't know anything about law at other colleges.

from what ive heard brasenose has always been known as 'the law college' it even says it itself in its prospectus 'the college has a long and extremely distinguished tradition in law, with many former students holding high legal positions, both in this country and overseas'.
otherwise worcester, st johns, univ, magdalen and christ church are very good too for law. which are actually the top 4 will vary from year to year.

Similarly from WOrcester's prospectus:

"The College has acquired a strong reputation for Law, and takes special pride in the academic and professional success of its students."

To be fair I think it probably makes very little difference exactly which one of the 5 or 6 named you choose, at least in terms of quality of degree you get - which college you like most socially will make a much bigger difference on your time at university.

agreed - to be honest this is probably true for all oxford colleges, the standard of teaching is not going to vary that greatly. wherever you go it wil b part of oxford univeristy!
but then it is always nice to get into somewhere with the reputations that those specific colleges have..........

Completely correct. It is very, very difficult to work out exactly wat the best college is for yourself though. What you'll find is that each college will have its own stregths (and weaknesses) WITHIN a subject dependent on who the tutors are and who's in positions of authority. Now I'm not a lawyer but I'm sure that some colleges are particularly strong in certain areas of law (shipping, criminal whatever). If you go to a college strong in criminal law and you want to be a barrister specialising in criminal law you're in a good position - but very few people aged 18, even if they know they want to be a barrister, know what area they want to specialise in - so even if this information was readily available there wouldn't be much chance of you making use of it.
