How do you know when to use integration by parts and when to use integration by substitution?

Thanks for that answer, but can you help on question 5c for Solomon paper K?

do you know the answer to a and b?
if so, you just find out where dy/dx = whatever it did in (b)
then make x or y the subject (probably y)

then you just replace y for the equation that you made y the subject of
then you'll either get a quadratic or a regular equation
then solve for x, input x to the original equation to get y.

I suspect you didn't double the range, as you're working with 2t.

You still can't follow the crop question?

i've never seen a paper where you've been expected to do integration by substitution without them explicitly telling the substitution and i've done every edexcel paper at least 3 times.

integration by parts is just used whenever you have two functions multiplied by each other, like xlnx or 2x^2(e^x)

Try the vector question on solomon A.

People will read your post no matter what font size it is, so please keep it regular, it's less of an eyesore.

Use the acronym L.A.T.E: Logs, Algebra, Trig, Euler's number, and choose your U in that order.

So xsin3x ?? would your u be sin3x ?

that was a solid question >>>> answer Q(-1,-2)

now if the tangent is parallel that means the gradient at that point is the same right.....

so all u have to do is equate dy/dx to the gradient u got (3/2)

this will give you y in terms of x now substitute it in the main equation

and u have ur answer >>>>

thnx for the question
