Postgrad in Halls...

Hi everyone,

I'm going to be a postgraduate student at the University of Sheffield in September, but I'm a little unsure of what to do about accommodation.

I've looked into private lettings and flats, but they seemed to be very expensive, especially if I wanted a 1 bedroom flat. I started to look at university owned accommodation (which saves me over £2000)

I feel it will be a good chance for me to meet people away from my course, and strike up some good friendships with people. Unfortunately for me, my first year at halls was awful, as they always felt like they didn't want me there... so I became more of a recluse.

I think it will be good to be given the opportunity again at a different Uni with different people. I'm not too sure what to put down as my choice though, I was going to put down a flat with undergraduates, but then I thought there still might be a divide, with me being postgrad (even though I'm only 21), and the partying... but at the same time, I don't want to be put in a flat with all international postgraduate students, or people that don't want to go out / socialise.

Also, I'll be in Florida until the Wednesday of Freshers Week... so will this prove a problem with moving in / making friends, as everyone else would have met up and got to know one another on the Saturday when moving in.

Thanks!
