Under 18 during freshers week
Argh...does that mean I can't go to the Big freshers Ice breaker event? and all the other night events? Even if you buy their tickets?
Nope you will have to spend all your time on your own while everybody goes out.

The events in clubs (like Fabric, Koko, Neon etc) will want ID on the door most of the time and won't let you in even with a ticket.
Most likely you'll be staying in for those events, but most people will still predrink in halls, and generally lots of people will get in on predrinks, even if some aren't going out (for whatever reason).
You'll be fine getting in to the union buildings (UCLU, ULU), just pick and choose carefully.
