Has anyone heard from RADA? I am still waiting on a reply! I got a offer at guildhall too well done guys!!!
Hi,

I've got an interview at LAMDA on the 7th May (a week tuesday!).

I've spent the majority of this year at BOVTS, but I dropped out a week ago as I realised it was the wrong course for me. Don't get me wrong it's a brilliant course and a fantastic place, but I knew exactly what I want to specialise in (Lighting) way faster than the course allows for. Also, London!

Anyway, I've now got two plans that I'm working on:
Plan A) Get into LAMDA and spend the next two years getting to the top of my game in an environment where it's safe(ish) to make a couple of mistakes every once in a while.
Plan B) Find work and spend the next however many years improving my skills and gaining experience on the job, whilst hopefully not making too many mistakes!!

Obviously I'm hoping for plan A. That's why it's called plan A right? So I thought I'd introduce myself to you awesome people and hope for the best.

And if anyone has any questions about BOVTS I'm happy to answer them.

Which one do you think you'll choose? I know Rosie hasn't heard back from RADA and I personally avoided it like the plague

I, like Matt, am going to Guildhall School in September. I got offers from Mountview, GSA, Bristol Old Vic, East 15 and am waiting to hear from RADA but chose Guildhall as they are very focused on sound and thats what my main interest is.

If you are going to Guildhall let us know so we can meet up before moving in!

) amazing!! I'd love to go to Guildhall too, still have to get interviewed though... When you say they are focused on sound, which techie course did you apply for? The stage management one or the theatre technology one?

Rosie and I are theatre technology - the course and guildhall itself aren't more focused on sound, they just have better sound facilities (and better facilities in general) than other drama schools.

I like the fact that LAMDA doesn't currently have an in house large theatre. Means that I will be going to lots of different professional theatres. All with different setups which will be more like being in the industry and working freelance, rather than using the same setup for 2/3 years, getting comfortable and having a heart attack when the theatre you are working in doesn't have an ION desk or the latest digital Mackie sound desk :P

Ookay, I sorta have a problem and I was wondering if anyone could help me, tell me what you would do, or maybe anyone is having the same problem atm...I have got an offer at LAMDA (whoop whoop ), but have to reply to the offer by the 1st of June!!! I have interviewed at RADA as well, had a really good feeling and liked the atmosphere and several other aspects a bit better there, but won't hear back from them before mid of June. Also, I have an interview at Guildhall coming up and this was my preferred course choice. But I won't hear from them before the mid of June either. I'd go nuts if I turned down LAMDA and don't get into any of the others...they all have so many pros and cons, they're all amazing. What to doo!? I'd love to know your opinion  thanks!

Are LAMDA really saying June 1st? I thought the DRAMA UK regs said July 1st for everyone. Oh well.

God forbid you don't get into RADA or GSMD (where Rosie and I will be) I'd accept the LAMDA offer. The DRAMA UK regs say you can only hold one accepted place at a time, so accept the LAMDA offer now, and if you get into RADA or GSMD write to LAMDA and turn down their offer say you're changing your mind, then accept whichever other one you want from Guildhall or RADA.

You're perfectly within your rights to do this, they allow this so you can choose one offer, not decline the rest, and can change your mind. But all this has to be done before JULY 1st, because that's when all the schools meet and student/place swap and discuss.

Congrats on your interviews/places, hopefully I'll see you at Guildhall in a few months, but if not, I'm sure LAMDA or RADA are just as good :-)

 thaaank you so much! Weeell, I should have read the registration papers caaarefully to the very last page before starting to worry  I found something from Drama UK telling me how I could cancel up to the 2nd July! Man, am I relieved  And you helped me to make sure that I believe what it says there haha. They swap students/places?? Wondering how that works...

Oh thanks a lot ) Yeah, the interview with Guildhall should be eh interesting, it's gonna be a Skype interview (it's not that I wouldn't have loved to be there personally, it just doesn't work with flying over, and they offered so..). Tell me, was your interview "horrible"?! I met people at another interview who told me how they're really nice in the beginning and then start to tear apart your portfolio? If so, I'm glad to have my hang-up button right there haha

And another question..So, is it everywhere like that, that you have to pay a fee deposit of 3000 Pound by July which you gotta have yourself and which won't be part of the student loan? So they're basically not paying/lending 9000 but 6000 the first year?

Thanks heaps

Btw: You were saying Rosie hasn't heard back from RADA yet? They told me they weren't gonna chose at all before they haven't finished their interviews (so another week or something, plus the time it takes to actually decide...). Maybe you found out already, I just thought that'd help

My interview was nice and they were really friendly, hope yours is too and I'm glad I could help  The deposit is only for non UK students so idk how it works. As for Rosie waiting on RADA, you'd have to ask her but I think she's pretty set on GSMD now.

I applied to RADA and have also not had a reply yet. They said they will make the decision after all of the interviews are done and the deadline for them getting back to us is 1st July so they should reply before then. I have however decided against RADA and am going to Guildhall
Hello fellow future techies!!

I've just joined having seen this topic. I had a look for a starters thread after my first offer in November but I may have been jumping the gun a bit there.

I'll be starting at Guidhall in September too, but on the Stage and Costume Management course. I got my offer back in December so the wait to start is getting painful. Just over three months now

I had an offer from Rose Bruford, and interviews lined up for LAMDA, Mountview, Central and GSA but cancelled them as soon as I heard from Guidhall as it was my top choice. Plus I couldn't afford to travel up to London for most of the interviews. :s-smilie:

I was one of the first people to interview at RADA (28th November) and heard nothing from them until a month ago. I got a phonecall from the head of course early April offering me a place and my letter came through a week later. So I assume that they may be starting to make offers? This could just be stage management though. It was my joint first choice, but due to the long silence and advice from working professionals, I'm well and truly set on Guildhall.

I'm really looking forward to getting started. Just nervously waiting for news on a place in the halls. And worrying that I'll be older than everyone else...

Aww don't worry, Guildhall seem to be a welcoming bunch and I certainly don't care how old you are :-) I know what you mean about waiting to go, I'm counting down the days. Waiting on halls too!

Feel free to join the fb group I set up for our year
Hey Matt,

Haha! I made it sound like I'm ancient, but I'm not. Promise. It's just that when I went for my interview, everyone was still at college and about 18. It's been 5 years since I did my A-levels, but I don't think I would have had the confidence to deal with the interview/course when I was younger!

I have requested to join the group  - I'm a little surprised Guidhall don't have a forum/fb group set-up so future students can get in contact before starting. I wonder if it's the same for all drama schools?

Oh, and I forgot to put in my previous post - Congratulations to everyone who's had offers so far! It's important to remember what an achievement it is to get places when it's so competitive!!

I think you,re my brother's age so you don't seem ancient to me :-) I'm actually 19 so everyone was younger than me too, if it helps.

I know when I got my Central offer they emailed me saying they had a group, so I wish Guildhall had one too. Tempted to email them about it.
