Personally I think everyone in that studio is missing a chromosone, why did that woman bring katy perry in to it lol? The stupidity is actually hurting me.
I would agree with them in the sense that I think Russell Brand is going on a linguistically astute rant like he has just had an epiphany about the world, but then not really understanding or attempting to understand the reasons for it being that way. However despite that, I actually think he touches on a lot of truths, certainly about political indifference amongst working class individuals and the gap between the rich and the poor. What the people in that studio do not seem to understand is that people can still be concerned about world issues and not vote. If no political party represents your views, or you lack confidence in their ability to fulfill such promises, why would you vote? The panel have no concept of a political system that exists outside their own. Another petty comment is the one about Brand giving up his wealth in order to give merit to his beliefs. He could give up his wealth and still the world wouldn't be any different. He supports widespread change and would likely embrace taxation of his earnings if he thought everyone else was involved and it was making a difference.

The members of the five are in such disagreement with Brad's ideas, that hey are guilty of dismissing the validity of his intellect as well as those ideas. Ironically, you are guilty of doing the exact same thing with the missing chromosome comment.

I can understand Brand's point about not voting, but I disagree. Not voting is a surrender. Write in your own name and vote for yourself if no suitable candidate exists. If a million voters did that it could send a profound message.

In regards to his desire for a massive redistribution of wealth and end to profit, he is just plain wrong. If you look past the five's patronizing attitude, they make a good point. At about 7:30; The hypocrisy of his beliefs, is that beyond the utopian idealism It will require oppressive force and totalitarian state to realize such an agenda. (I'm paraphrasing). This is obvious and has been proved throughout history multiple times.

Brand possesses a certain wit and ability to articulate his ideas. Combined with his fame and charisma those ideas may seem more compelling than their substance should merit. I'd like to debate him.

They missed the point on his deficit/profit line, he didn't in any way suggest that the profit equals the deficit which is what they seem to think. Also how did the discussion go from "taxes are evil" to Brand being greedy? what? Then they start talking about how unattractive they find him, FOX news is so professional now that they can't argue against valid points but have a go at him for being too intellectual or his divorce lol.

I believe that Brand is implying that every dollar of profit made (by the rich) is a dollar taken from someone else (the poor). That is simply not how it works and they were mocking him for that. They are guilty of attacking him personally though, so fair point there. I'm saying I agree with their position, not their methodology of defending it.
I don't really care. Russell Brand has no idea how the economy works and his rant about socialism had no basis and it sounded like he was repeating something that someone far more intelligent had said. Obviously Fox News are going to be dicks about it, in their 'only one good political perspective'. I'm guessing their paid to say certain things about taxes. They don't know why someone in the UK is sick of Labour and the Conservatives.

As for the student thing, I'm not that sure, a lot of people have their rants and I've not met any hardcore socialist ranters, who do what Brand does, at my university. The only clue I've found that anyone isn't far right is that they mock the Daily Mail but this isn't all that exclusive. I think it's silly to paint all students like that.

Russell Brand is unbelievably eloquent but this social reform he's after is more of an ideology rather than a practical solution to the problems of the world. Think about it this way, the rich-poor divide within society is the premise for particular issues however without the rich, many of the luxuries afforded by the poorer in this first world society would be obsolete. The constant berating and battering of the 'rich' drives them away from the country and results in issues brought up here; Americans moving their funds to the Camen islands due to the feeling of penalisation caused by the expectancy of the rich to feed the poor - this is the very reason communism hasn't prevailed in developed countries.

These news reporters are wrong. By bringing up unrelated topics such as Brand's looks they completely devalue their own opinion to just a simple playground debate. If some of the top students were left to run the country, I can guarantee they would do a better job than what is being done at the moment. It's overpaid, hyped up and frankly stupid reporters like these which are having a detrimental effect on society by insinuating ideologies which are simply unfounded. As much as Brand is a tosser at times, his views are shared by many of this generation and it will be the cause of a social revolution - it's just a matter of time.
