Tories promise more mosques, muslim community centres & free parking for muslims

The 1st leaflet mentioned has been confirmed to be an official Tory document by the candidate. Why don't catholics, christians, sikkhs etc get free parking when they pray? Tories making a big mistake

Giving people special treatment always leads to resentment and problems, no matter what the intention. More mosques is fine, should there be demand for them, but creating muslim-only public services is absurd, as is the free parking initiative.

If these are real, it's still quite clear that this is just the act of one errant local group, obviously trying to get votes from a significant proportion of Newham's electorate. But this is the wrong way to go, as they are effectively indicating a disregard for non-muslim voters.

I believe George Galloway got elected using similar tactics. It's all it takes in areas with a large Muslim population.

I agree with the idea that there should be more mosques as there is not a lot of mosques for the large number of Muslims here in Britain. However the idea for free parking whilst they pray will backfire severely because it seems as if Muslims are getting special treatment.

Think youre heading into a legal quagmire if you start promising exclusive public services for one religious group. Iirc one London Borough tried starting a muslim only hour in its swimming pools but had to climb down.

You make it sound like they're promising to subsidise mosque building when all they seem to have offered is a vague pledge not to block private mosque proposals on land that muslims own themselves.

Reading their actual leaflet they have policies that would appeal to Muslims and not discriminate against any one. The free parking on Friday is for "everyone" the op has deliberately misconstrued what the Tories are saying here
