Ok. Basically, my boyfriend got a place through clearing for law in reading. he hasnt recieved any post about accomodation yet. We were wondering whether ppl that get a place through clearing still manage to get a place in halls or whether they r already all filled up so u have to rent.

I got a bit of info about Accom. Ive got into Reading as it was my insurance but they said to me on the phone that they will TRY but they cannot be sure that they will have space

Hope this is useful

i think the best thing for him to do is phone them up on the accommodation phone number. don't remain uncertain!

yep im in exactly the same position as your bf. ring the accom office asap! they took all my details, preferences etc etc and said theyd send me soemthing out in a few days. if they dont find me halls, they are gonna put me in a host house (with en suite  ) while they find suitable halls for me, or as they become available.

i realllllly hope i get halls!!
i found the number, just in case he can't find it:
0118 931 8055/56

Last year there were alot of people who wanted places in University Accommodation that didn't have it sorted by the start of the year. For example, even the music room in my hall was used as a temporary bedroom until they found somewhere for that person!

Dont worry though, everyone was put up and looked after somewhere and sorted a place as quickly as possible, even if it was the hotel round the corner!
shall i ring up and ask if theyve found me anything? or just wait til they get in touch with me? :|

I got onto Law through clearing. I replied on the (i think) 3rd day after results came out, and I got a place in halls. I don't know how successful youll be now. good luck though.

edit: wait i think i got the wrong end of the stick. erm, yeah i hadnt heard anything a couple of days ago so i rang them up and they just told me I'd got a place in Sibly. lol the number of times ive rung them up over the past few weeks, they must be sick of me by now...

but yeah ring them up. good luck. as long as you applied early on you should be ok.

I went to Reading as my second choice and ended up in St Pats as a temp. I was in St Pats my first week then got shunted around and eventually landed in Sherfield but was catered by St Pats. I think this is because last year had an unusally high number of apps, but it may be different this year!

o god i didnt get a chance to call at work, n by the time i got home it was too late. it's not looking v good for me. took me ages to reply and everything.
In the Welcome Pack I got today, it says for Clearing or Insurance students:

'An accommodation form has been completed on your behalf and sent to the Accomodation Service. If you are hoping to live in University accommodation, the Accommodation Service will be in touch with you very soon. If by Friday 15th September you do not know where you will be living, please contact the Accommodation Service on (0118) 378 8055'

Hope that helps

Go to it. Get somewhere to stay for now.

As people drop out of uni, get a room in halls. Easy.

Halls are key to making mates and socialising too! Don't forget that bit.

Anyway don#t worry. I'm sure you'll be fine
