Oxford MFE - does it matter which round?

Hey guys,

I initially wanted to apply to Oxford in R1. The thing is - even if I did get an interview, without proper prep in econ and math (because my degree is biotech) I will never nail the famous technical questions it's full of. I can study the stuff on my own, but am a late M&A SA in London - so won't have time to do that until mid Oct.

So I thought I would apply in R2. Is that an issue you reckon? Is there a big difference between admission rate in different rounds?

Same question goes for Cambridge MPhil in Finance.
As far as I'm aware the major round is the second round in January (atleast this is the deadline for the funding). The early round was intended for those who are also applying in the US, where the deadlines are much earlier. It is possible to apply and be accepted in R1 but the majority of people are accepted during R2 as this is the normal deadline for most funding.
