Last year, I had about 9 one-hour frees a week. Most of them happened at the end of the day so I was home by lunch, which was nice.
This year, I've got about 10 frees a week, but most of them occur in the morning and tutor is compulsory, so I'm essentially trapped in school for two hours without lessons most days.
I'm doing advanced Highers this year and most teachers aren't either capable or don't have the time to teach the subject so for the most part we are teaching ourselves. We have, what I call, 'taught' periods, and 'self-teaching periods'. It get's a bit stressful having to struggle through a topic you don't understand but then again it's amazing preparation for university next year.
1 period = 55 mins For AH Maths we (surprisingly) have 4 taught periods + 1 self taught AH French: 3 taught periods + 3 self taught AH Physics: 2 taught periods + 3 self taught Computing is a higher subject so we get all of our 5 periods taught Free periods: 6
Total free + self taught = 13 periods or 12 - ish hours
How come you all have so few free periods? I'm studying 4 AS levels and i have about 18 one-hour free sessions a week but i guess the college day at my college is from 8:30-16:30.
