Cat's are pretty smart. Mine remembers my Grandma even though we only see her every 3 months or so.

I was chatting to my mum on Skype last year, and because my voice was so loud, the cat searched the entire house for me thinking I was there! And I have *the* dippiest cat going, so I'm sure they do remember!

Research that was done at University of Michigan and the Department of Animal Behaviour at the American Museum of Natural History has found cats to have memory about two-hundred times better than dogs [2]. Cats are thought by some to have even better memory than monkeys and chimps."
