What a dumb thing to lie about. Well you've dug yourself into a hole. You can either confess & let him know you told a silly lie or you can keep digging yourself deeper until he finds out and thinks you are a deluded crazy person.

Just tell him u got fired... then when he says something like, I never found that store, just say something like 'yeah, well it doesn't matter now, because the bastards fired me!'
Act as if you're properly cut up about being fired, and indicate to him (through your behaviour and your tone of voice) that you never want to talk about it again!! If he asks you anything else, just say, 'I'm sorry I'm really pissed off about the whole thing, and really don't want to talk about it right now'

It might make it more obvious that he was lying though, its a bit of a quincidence that he was suddenly fired, then again theres not much else for him to say.
