Is St. Mary's really gay?

I've applied for English at Durham, and marked St. Mary's as my choice of college on the UCAS form.

However, just been thinking about this more carefully:

I chose Mary's because of its location, nice buildings and seemingly laid back atmosphere. I also liked to fact it had just gone mixed - being part of a new generation, etc.

I'm gay, which I'm sure wont be a problem at Durham (?!), but I've just had a feeling that every other gay lad will apply to Mary's because of my reasons. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to mix with fellow gays in college, but think its healthy to have a good mix of people. Will this not be the case? And is Mary's popular with lesbians?

Sorry if this is quite random - it's late and I'm paranoid about uni applications!

if you wanted to be part of a new generation you should have applied to Butler.

as for the gay scene, no idea, but I havent stumbled across any open gays at Butler, few who I think are, but none who have said they are.

I'm openly gay at Butler... obviously I just haven't met you. Whereabouts are you? You must be a Milfielder - I'm in Dilston and I've met loads in Kirk as well, but no Milfs! :p:

Err yeah otherwise Butler is pretty amazing (mostly).

Er I would have thought Marys would get loads of straight guys hoping that there'd be tonnes of girls there?
Lol seriously doubt it will end up a 'gay college'!

and yes we should meet, in bar, tomorrow before 7 pm. i'l be like the only asian guy there, like usual.
It's about as straight as a roundabout.
What do you think an all-girls' college will be like?
That's right. As un-gay as the sun.

I always thought those page 3 women looked proper straight
I meant the asexual ball of thermonuclear explosions that powers our quotidien existence, rather than the filthy right-wing soft-porn mental pabulum rag with the same name.

It's probably a reasonably good mix like every other college. Seriously, don't worry about the demographic of your college, it isn't necessary.

Also, being gay in Durham... is not a problem at all. Newcastle obviously has a better scene though, but it really depends what you're into.

Good luck with your application.

Yeah, Newcastle tends to be just a "little" tacky. IMHO, of course.

I've not checked it out, but tacky how.. while we're on the topic?

There is only one gay bar in Limoges, it is called Le New Boy. Hehe.

Haven't been yet though.

I'm at Mary's. I know one gay guy, but I expect there are more.

Tacky i.e. oiled buff men in fluffy wings, etc. And can be a bit of a freakshow. But if you go with a big enough group of friends (so you can avoid the freaks) it can be a good night.
