Help! What uni do I decide on?

Hey, I can't make up my mind on what uni to firm! It's getting pretty close to the UCAS deadline and I've been trying to make my mind up since November haha :s-smilie:
On one hand, the theme of Brunel's course (Mechanical & Energy Engineering) is more tailored towards the field that I'm really interested in (renewable energy). It also seemed to have fairly good labs too! However, the uni itself seemed quite boring (I've seen it a few times now) and I didn't get much of a buzz from going. It's also close to home, meaning I can move back after 1st year, which is a pro (can just get on with work after 1st year as I don't have to worry about cooking etc.) and a con haha!

On the other hand, Loughborough had a solid, but less relevant course (Mechanical Engineering). The facilities were really good (better than Brunel's), and the staff seemed more enthusiastic too. Unlike Brunel, I actually got a buzz from visiting and really liked the community atmosphere. Although, I'd have to live out for all 3/4 years.
My parents are quite adamant on paying for my uni fees as they did the same for my brother and sister (when it was £3000/year), but we're not exactly super rich or anything.

Essentially, do I go for the more relevant course at the mediocre uni or do I go for the broad course at a good uni?
What would you do and have you been in a similar situation?
I appreciate all replies and thanks for reading the mini essay haha!

P.S. I have a dog who I'd probably miss the most if I went to Loughborough :colondollar:
100% Loughborough! It has a great engineering department and far more prestigious than Brunel

Thanks for your advice, guys! Do either of you attend Loughborough and if so, how are you finding it?

I don't know much about about mechanical engineering but i think a tailored course content isn't necessarily a pro since most students idea of what to specialise on changes a lot once they actually start uni. I would go for Loughborough both because it has a better reputation and it gives you more space to make up your mind later.
I'm abandoning a dog for uni too. :frown:

Yeah, true. I think I'll firm Loughborough then.
