I got the invite through the VIP thing but I was also sent an email saying that I recieved an invite

I've applied for econ and finance at bristol too! And yeah probably. I don't think a university would be that excited to see that your PS is not about the subject you have actually applied for .. I think
However economics and finance and pure economics are similar so it might not be a problem. Have you sent your application?
