Anyone thinking about shared rooms? #Controversial Any of the students know anyone sharing a room? Maybe in Wills Hall?

I applied to do economics in early October and received an offer in early December.

oooooohhhhhhh ok, would you really have enough time for uni stuff, work and socialising?

Well boiiii I'm going to have to find time :colone: because the accommodation is so expensive. But at Waitrose you can do minimum of something like 4 hours and then just do overtime if you want. Plus I'm studying English literature which has low contact hours, so I think I will be fine. Fingers crossed. What about you, thinking of working?

What was the requirements that they gave you, if you don't mind me asking?
Also were you prompted to complete the Fee Status Questionnaire?

I might transfer to whatever the nearest McDonalds is but it's unlikely, if I did i would only work during first year because the workload at Bristol would increase after that (for comp sci anyway). Plus I hate going home smelling like a greasy burger
Just got rejected for Theatre and Performance studies, gutted

Some professors from the university came to my school yesterday and they said they start the accommodation application process in April.

I have an offer for Social Policy and Criminology!

It's surprising, though, that such a competitive course as Politics & Philosophy - 140+ applicants for 15 places, apparently - should be listed in 'Extra?'

On those figures you quoted I'd imagine they have sufficient applications but are hoping to attract Oxbridge rejects.

Yes, but Oxbridge rejects would also have offers from universities comparable to Bristol - Nottingham, Warwick,Durham - or if they were rejected by those, why should Bristol want them?

Last year a friend of mine went for Oxford, UCL, Birmingham, Warwick and Durham. She was rejected from Oxford (first choice, post-interview) and UCL (second choice, on the basis of her PS) but held offers from the other three. However, she decided to change tact and declined them as she wasn't too keen on the course content overall. She then applied to Bristol through Extra for a different though similar course and got in. I suspect there are currently many students in the same boat who are bright with good grades, yet have missed their first and second choices and are willing to take the risk. Extra clearly works for Bristol or they wouldn't have re-opened applications. If some Oxbridge rejects, or just talented students who have since discovered a different course are willing to take the gamble it may pay off, equally it may not.

Why though do you question Bristol's want to look at Extra applicants if they've been rejected from similar universities? I find it very narrow minded and simplistic. It doesn't mean they're inferior, just unfortunate. Perhaps the PS let them down a la friend/UCL, which is even more likely when the margins are small, as with this course.
For all of you about to make Firm or Insurance choices - here are some of the reasons you should choose Bristol : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khM7tjui86Q

Anyone else not heard back from Mechanical Engineering?
Apparently, most law offers haven't been sent out yet.

Has anyone applied for pharmacology?

It was my fifth back-up choice when I applied in october but it's now my top choice if they giver me an offer. But with only 37 places I don't know if they'd offer someone with a PS obviously written for a different course.

Hi there, I've applied for Pharmacology and received my offer from Bristol for the MSci program (firm). I think it depends on what other courses you have applied originally and how do those relate to, and also how does your PS reflects your choice of Pharmacology.
