Was just wondering what O and HO actually means? Are these jobs related to the TSP or are they completely different?

Band O - Officer (£23,010 starting salary national)
Band HO - Higher Officer (£29,068 starting salary national)
Anyone else still waiting on an email and have the "invited to online test" status?

Any hope?

Me! Guess we just have to wait while HRCSR do their thing. Perhaps they will do another batch this afternoon.

I'm also on the reserve list. Just out of interest - were you offered a HO post last year for getting on the reserve list?

Also, can anyone advise what salary a HO post would likely start on?

Hey, tell a lie, it was actually the year before last (2014 intake). I didn't get an HO offer, but did get a O offer in June (Called EO in other depts - same grade). I didn't take it in the end because I had a Fast Stream offer, but probably would have done otherwise.

egypt, O and HO are grades within HMRC (Officer and Higher Officer). The jobs aren't on the TSP, but are on similar tax-related work in HMRC. The difference is that they come with less training and development. It would still be possible to get to the same grades eventually and with hard work, but it might take a little longer, and you'd have to actively apply for promotions, rather than it being expected that you would rise as part of the TSP scheme.

TSP Pay Scales are grade T (With an uplift after 2 years to the mid point)

But as a brief reference for rough starting salaries (slightly out of date, but the minima haven't changed much due to the pay freeze):

Band T National £27,045
Band T London £29,256
Higher Officer National £28,636
Higher Officer London £31,900
Officer National £22,669
Officer London £26,094

Same here, but to be fair it was against thousands of graduates

Same here, I didn't think I got too many wrong. Ah well the wait continues.
Hi guys
I'm still waiting and it's still saying "invited to online test". I had actually not checked until today tho, so I have no idea what might have happened before today.
Reading this thread has made me start to worry now!
Good luck to anyone still waiting
Has everyone whose status had changed to 'online test completed' status now changed to unsuccessful? Or is this still the status for some people?
I received an email this morning (11:02) saying I have moved to Stage 3 and the invite for the AC will be sent between 6-20 January. I am a bit confused about this HO/O stuff, what are the chances of me receiving an offer for one of these should I be unsuccessful at the AC?

Thanks, good luck everyone

I'm in Belfast yes and from the amount of different roles and positions becoming available I'd dare say that Band O job offer is very likely on the cards
There's a few in the Belfast office I'm in that didn't make it to assessment centre and were offered Band O positions, and fair play too.

The O/HO roles are a good place to start in here. Keep applying for other grad schemes though and don't put all your eggs in one basket

Ah very good thanks for the info. Suppose a bit of hope is better than nothing. When were the people in your office offered the O role who didnt get to AC? I'm guessing at least the summer time? This is the only grad scheme that interested me really so I'll be applying again next year haha

Yes I do, several hundred from Stage 2 last year were offered jobs. You got a fairly decent of getting something.

That's good to hear. Suppose it'll be a long wait anyway so i'll wait and see. Still disappointed though considering it said we were successful at stage 2. By the way are you an O or HO?

Nope i still have same status. Strange process. No point emailing them for more information cos wont hear back until next week
how many people are on the reserve list? and how many people make it to the AC?
Hello all

Like many others I hace got the email that I have met the stage 2 standards but not high enough to get through interviews

Now I wondered last year they offered O and HO positions but im wondering if they do thr same this time, people who are already O levels with hmrc, would they be offered HO levels?

Hi. I was one of the folks offered an O post in Belfast. I got the same email like a lot of yo guys saying I was not on reserve list for AC, but jobs may be available in future. Thought that was it, but got an email in April asking if I would be interested in an O post. Then invited to a 'Administration Centre' which just involved attending an HMRC building to present my documents i.e. Passport, driving licence etc..Did all that in May and then got email at start of June saying thanks for doing all that, but there are no positions at moment. (Guessing I wasn't high enough up the list). Then got an email mid August offering postion starting in November. Takes so long to complete background checks, so hence huge date difference. Started with HMRC at start of November. 3 of us started within my team. As TraineeAcc has mentioned, there are many different roles within the same grade. He is an HO, but an O working in his team would be doing completely different tasks to me, and working with different systems as well.
I've gone to "online test completed" at 830 today. Oh well. Best of luck for everyone else today!
