Just got an offer yesterday! Picking my accommodation now!

Congratulations!!
anyone else here with Southampton as Insurance ? My firm offer is UCL -A*AA, but Biology exam did not go well so just worried.
I havent been given option to choose accommodation by Southampton as i have listed it as my insurance. Do they still offer you accommodation on the day of results?
Do we need to send back any forms etc regarding your insurance offer ?or just leave it as an Insurance on the track?

Just leave it on UCAS. Nothing you need to do. You might get accommodation, even as an insurance but even if you don't there is loads of private accom.

Do you guys think my AS/GCSE results will reach Southampton by 1st July if I send them today? Didn't see this the first time I read the email.

Also do they send confirmation for finishing the health questionnaire? because they did for the consent form but not the questionnaire.

Send them today how? There are 2 weeks before 1st of July so any sort of post should be fine.

Probably not re: questionaire

Food is all right yeah. Just be aware that you can't get catered food at the hospital and you're the 3/5 days a week in 1st year. Part catered probably more sensible than catered. Just think about how often you'll be back in time to use it.

Is part catered basically self catered? Would you just recommend me to just learn how to cook? Lastly, what can you tell me about the halls like which is best etc

Part catered means you don't get all your meals from the uni, just some of them.

Probably easier to just learn. You can always then buy food at the canteen anyway.

There is no best halls. They're all pretty much the same, just variations on people number and age. There are loads of virtual tours etc of the halls online. Best place to start.

Thanks, is there a halls where medical students mainly stay? Would you recommend staying in halls with medical students or does it not matter?

Nope we're spread out. Keeps you sane. No particular halls for medics either. Just pick whatever seems to fit your needs best. Think about how you want to travel and where you're going - town, sport centre, too lazy to cycle to hospital, travelling home a lot etc. Then look at a map of where halls are and see what suits.

They're all pretty similar and you're only there a year
I live in Bournemouth , but only 2 minutes away from the train station . Do you recommend moving to halls ( for the first year at least ) or commuting?

Id recommend doing halls first year as it means you make friends, easier for nights out and gives you a taste of independent living.
You could commute for the later years, and halls would help you decide whether to or not.

What is more important to you? Time lost commuting, social life, or money?

If you value time/socialising perhaps halls is better.

If you're more interested in saving money and minimising your debt, stay home!
