If you meet the minimum gcse requirements, would getting all 9s (I didn’t get all 9s) put me at an advantage than someone who got 4s, 5s and 6s? Thanks.

I don't think so as they select on the how you answer the three questions and you meeting 3 contextual , then if two people have same interview score they look at UCAT.

the only change this year is
BM6 Local Area Applicants to BM6
3.17 The Faculty of Medicine will offer a number of places at the BM6 programme selection days to applicants
from the area local* to the University of Southampton. Applicants are required to fulfil both the non-academic
and academic criteria for the BM6 programme.
* applicants must have a Hampshire & Isle of Wight, Dorset or Wiltshire postcode listed in their UCAS application.
does this mean they will prioritise people in the local area instead and do you think its worth applying if not from local area

The problem is that it is mentioned in their admission policy this year, so they will offer some places to local students but they need to fulfill the academic and non academic requirement . maybe fulfilling these criteria and being local make probability less so maybe the numbers are little but I am not sure.

If you want to make sure email them.

Of course it is worth applying (if you satisfied all the academic and non academic criteria ) as they didn't say they priorities local area . they said they ( will offer a number of places at the BM6 programme selection days to applicants from the area local).

There’s around 600 applications (this number can vary). Southampton usually invite around 132 people to interview. And there’s normally around 32 places available.

does anyone know the ucat cut off for the bm6 course

There isn’t a specific ucat cut off for bm6. They’ll only use the ucat to split tied scores at interview.

How does this work then if all you need to do is satisfy the minimum requirements? Surely everyone applying would pretty much meet the requirements so how is the ratio so low? Sorry just confused x

Hello,

Final year Bm5 student at southampton here 👋
I’m not entirely sure, best advice would be contacting the university for this information [email protected]
However I think that it also depends on the eligibility criteria set out by the uni for the program, I’ve attached a photo.

Don’t hesitate if you have any other questions
