Fresher Applying for Internship in Third Year?? (Investment Banking)

I'm a fresher that studies comp sci, and I'd rather focus on getting skilled in that field.

This will mean, I will have to postpone applying for internships in the third year.

Assuming everything goes to plan, and I indeed become fairly skilled in comp sci (in programming and knowledgeable in comp sci in general), will I be hindered by applying in third year?

What if I applied in second year?

Please definitive questions.
you lose nothing from applying to spring weeks this year and internships next year, if you're interested in the field of finance.

I don't even want to apply to spring weeks this year.

Want to focus 100% on boosting computer science knowledge (as a hedge in case I hate IB)

then that's your call.

that being said typically if you're not in the game early, it gets considerably harder as time passes.
