Tips on retaining as much as possible as quick as possible

Does anyone have any tips on self teaching by the textbook efficiently as possible? I'm doing maths, biology, chem A2 and want to learn everything by Christmas as teachers take too long and give myself time to blast past papers the rest of the year? Any advise would be greatly appreciated

My method:

Read a whole chapter than condense the sub chapters in writing.
Next read your condensed text and condense that even further.
Next take your condensed text and turn it into images/mind map.
Lastly practice questions, referring to the condensed text whenever possible.

If you don't read the book, then at least practice the questions as they are precisely what is most likely to appear in an exam.
