Hey guys,

Basically i wanted to know lets say if you want to study English Literature or Language at University does it matter which Alevels you did as long as you have done an Alevel in at least English Literature or Language?.

To give you precise information: Check each universities requirements (or the universities you are interesting in going i should say)

As a rule of thumb: Yes, although sometimes other combinations are desireable even if they aren't essential
It wouldn't make a great deal of difference what other subjects you are studying. However, there are a few 'obvious' points - universities maintain their basic entry requirements, which might include recommendations of what the other subjects should be. For example, King's College London state that they generally prefer the other subjects to be within the arts and humanities field, but such recommendations are few and far. There are also some universities who tend to prefer applicants to take a more traditional academic route - that is, largely avoiding the newer, less writing-based subjects such as Dance or Physical Education.

You could also consider your other subjects in a personal sense, as an applicant. Even if it would not make a large difference what you had studied apart from English, you might find that subjects such as History or a modern language complement it well, as elements of these disciplines will be apparent in your degree.

Traditional, "academic" subjects would definitely go down best.
