Why do people say names are trashy?

I don't think they are. Why do people say names like Britney, Courtney, Tiffany, Whitney are trashy?

because people love to stereotype for no apparent reason haha! it’s because many people who others view as “chavs” have those names. but at the end of the day, a name is a name and it doesn’t define you. people who judge others for their name are stupid anyway haha! :smile:

Because well-known people have those names who have bad reputations, or individual people who know others with those names give it a bad reputation. I personally hate the names Brittney, Amber, Gemma etc because I know some truly awful people with those names and it has tainted the name for me. Similar to how if you eat a certain food and it gives you food poisoning, most people would then be put off that food. I don't judge someone solely based on their name though. I just wouldn't choose to name my child anything like it.

Because some names are chosen by idiotic attention seekers who don't mind what impression the first name and spelling of their child gives.
Nor care whether their child endures years of misery at the hands of the school bullies, half the snobbish parents and teaching staff.
Stripper names, serial killer names, car names, casino game names, misspelt names.
