Maintenance loan for pre settle status EU student?

Hello!

I read the "New eligibility rules of student finance
for the 2021/22 academic year" https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/956894/New_eligibility_rules_for_home_fee_status_and_student_finance_for_the_2021_to_2022_academic_year.pdf

I have pre-settle status and I have an EEA nationality (I am Italian).

Considering the following statement:

"The SLC will award tuition fee and maintenance support to EEA and Swiss workers, and
their family members, where the student has pre-settled status and 3 years’ residency in
the UK, Gibraltar, EEA and Switzerland." (page 5)

Will I be eligible for a maintenance loan since I have residency in EEA since all my life?

If not, what does maintenance support means?

Thank you

Hi, with pre settled status you can only apply for the Tuition Fee Loan. You can't receive a Maintenance Loan unless you work while you study or until you are awarded settled status.

On Gov website it clearly says that YOU CANNOT get any maintenance loan unless you have settled status. No ifs not buts. So why are you guys creating so much confusion by saying that you actually can get Maintenance loan with pre settled status as long as you work???

Hi there,

Just to clarify, if you have Pre-Settled Status and work while you study you can apply as a Migrant Worker. If accepted you'll be awarded the Maintenance Loan. We're looking to get the website updated to show this more clearly.

If you'd like to know more about applying as a Migrant Worker feel free to ask us.

Thanks, Graeme

Hello Graeme,

What kind of evidence do I need to send them specifically?

Hi there,

If you wish to apply as a Migrant Worker for 23/24, you would need to complete the paper PN1 Form found here https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1151449/sfe_pn1_form_2324_o.pdf

We would require your Eu Share Code and Home office letter confirming your status.
We would need a copy of your contract and your last 3 months payslips.
We will also need a copy of your last p60 if you have this.

The address to send this to is:

EU Migrant Worker Team
Student Finance England
PO Box 89
Darlington
DL1 9AZ

Thanks,
Claire
