PhD Application Anxiety

Hey, I know many of you may have experienced something similar, so just wondering if you've discovered any coping mechanisms.

I finished my MA last September, been unemployed since, living with my parents. I've done a CELTA and hopefully I'll have my driver's license by December. But given that I'm applying for September 2022, I'm still facing another year of what feels like wasted time career-wise (no professional opportunities available in my local area/ value of degrees not being necessarily recognised by possible employers).

At least this free time has given me the opportunity to work on my PhD application, particularly in terms of research, but this protracted amount of time away from an academic setting, twinned with how "dead-ended" my current situation feels, makes the whole process feel almost unsurmountable.

Does anyone else feel the same?

I suspect that most recent graduates who remain unemployed for a sustained period of time feel the same way.
