question about bursaries for uni

If you pay for your tuition fees in full, but your household income is below £18,000, do you still qualify for bursaries for rent? Would paying for tuition fees yourself mean you won't qualify anymore? (As someone who does qualify for student loan)
Most bursaries would be based on students having applied for an income assessed maintenance loan. SFE share the household income assessment summary with universities for this purpose.

If you don’t apply for a maintenance loan and submit household income information from SFE then you aren’t likely to get an income assessed bursary.

Why would you want to pay your tuition fees up front instead of getting a loan?
