When can you start an apprenticeship after uni

So I've done a repeat year of uni so all my work is done and I'm fully over university now, I don't want to go into final year (although this is my 5th year at uni and apparently I can't go further anyway unless I ask the board which I'm not going to do).

I'm not sure if I have to wait until the end of term (end of May) to apply to apprenticeships or even September. I've already been applying and have some pre-interviews but I've asked to change to a further date until I get confirmation about whether I can even apply yet. I have asked one of the apprenticeships about it so I'm awaiting a response but I'd be grateful if anyone here knows or has experience with this.
