How many days a week at uni UoB mechanical engineering

I'm hoping to to get into UoB but one dilema I have is if I wanna move there or commute and this pretty much depends on how many days I would be at uni so for first years or people who have done first year mech eng students, how many days a week are/were you at uni

What's UoB?
I am a first year Mech Eng student but not at UoB (not sure where that is).

Other than in the run up to formal assessment periods I am in 5 days a week. A couple of days a week it might only be for one or two 1 hour lecture/tutorial in a day, but I also go in to meet up with other students for group work or go to the library to revise together. I commute but, it is an easy one as my bus is every 20mins and only takes 30-40 mins door to uni.
It's like the person above said - it won't always be full days but probably there will be something everyday Monday to Friday... and unis generally don't publish timetables in advance.

So if you've got a long commute you could be making the trip for one or two hours of 'guided learning' on some days - which you might find frustrating.

Uni of Birmingham
Engineering year 1 is typically 4 or 5 days depending on course structure. You should expect contact time 20-30hrs per week

Hi there,

Great to hear you're looking to go to Bath! For your mechanical engineering course it is likely that you will have lectures/tutorials around 4-5 days a week so I would recommend living somewhere it is easy to get to campus. If you are concerned about living from home there is lots of information here:

Living away from home is a great experience. It helps you gain independence, meet lots of new people/make lots of friends and really immerses you into university life. If you are concerned at all about the financial side of living away then there are lots of tips and information here:
https://www.bath.ac.uk/professional-services/student-finance/
Bath also offers a lot of scholarships and bursaries to help students who may need it so if feel free to get in touch with the finance team at any point.

Best of luck,
- Sophie (uni of Bath)
