Community at PhD vs postdoc
Hi all, bit of a way off yet but was wondering what people's experiences are of doing a postdoc and how the community differs to that you get at postgrad? I've heard you mainly associate with other postdocs and it's difficult to meet students in a social context or people from other departments, does that hold true? Are there ways for postdocs to engage across disciplines?
I'm debating whether to stay at my current university for a PhD and go elsewhere for a postdoc, or whether to move now in order to experience what student life is like at a different uni. I'd like to meet new people across different departments (which hasn't really been possible here due to the small campus) but am concerned that'd be difficult once you count as staff rather than student.
