yh, some of the papers are scanned and this could smudge the ink (because of the gel), but some can get marked as paper (they might consider that if it is obvious that it is gel pen, but they don't look at every paper individually when scanning - you just have to be lucky)

apparently the main problem is based on water resistance as well - it has to be permanent.
