So i misinterpreted an english lit question (mock exam) will i get any marks

I know its a mock and not that important but i still want to make sure. The question was how does Shakespeare present Macbeth as an evil character?
i thought it meant to what extent was he an evil character and how is he presented morally.
and i wrote about him not being completely evil in some parts. do i lose marks?

I think the teacher might interpret that as an alternate viewpoint, you might actually end up getting more marks

In my experience of GCSE (I did AQA), if you argued your point well enough and backed it up with evidence, making sure to link back to the question throughout as to not go off topic, you should be fine! Explaining how a character is not simply themed in one way shows a greater depth of understanding of the text. But again, it all depends how well you backed up your points.
