The student needs to take the UCAT exam in the same year as they apply for med school. Med school applications via UCAS close in Oct 2023 so students need to have sat their UCAT exam in the months June-July-Aug-Sept 2023. The student needs to register with UCAT site and then register to take the exam (£70) at one of the centres across the UK. There are websites with banks of hundreds of past UCAT exam questions so the student needs to enroll in one of these and practice for up to 2 hours a day for at least 6 to 8 weeks prior to taking the UCAT exam. The exam is marked out of 3500 and a student needs to be getting around 2700 or higher to have a serious chance of getting an interview with a med school.
