MSc AI St Andrews or Aberdeen

Hi,

I'm planning an MSc AI and looking at either St Andrews or Aberdeen Universities. I'm looking for advice on the quality and depth of course content from anyone who has attended either of them.

Good taught theory and access to the faculty are a must as I plan to do further research.

St Andrews has a lot of flexibility in their module selection:

Compulsory:
- AI Practice
- AI Principles
- OO Modelling, Design, and Programming

the remaining modules are optional and selected from a wide range of topics

Aberdeen has a more defined structure:

Compulsory:
- Symbolic AI
- Machine Learning
- Evaluation of AI systems
- Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
- Software Agents
- Data Mining and Deep Learning
- NLG

there are two optionals: (1) Applied AI and (2) AI and Data Ethics

Aberdeen looks good because of its structure but also because I'm struggling to get similar insight into St Andrews.

Thanks for your help

Hi Yasda,

I would recommend emailing or calling them and speaking to the programme leader of the course.

Explain your situation and questions and they will give you insight into the course from their point of view.

But if you ask them, they may also be able to put you in touch with some current or past students who will be able to answer your questions from a students point of view.

The contact info is below;

St Andrews

Phone +44 (0)1334 46 3253
Email - [email protected]

Aberdeen online form - https://www.abdn.ac.uk/study/enquire-now/

Email - [email protected]

I hope this helps.

Let me know how you get on or if you have any other questions.

Thanks.

Martin
