Student finance, ‘national insurance number already exists in our system’

Hello, I am in the process of applying for student finance. However, at the end of the application where you need to input your national insurance number, it states ‘your national insurance number Already exists in our system’. I have never submitted an application before, and I only have one account. Does anyone know how I can resolve this?
